Melayi Thindwa Foundation’s goal is to aggressively fight poverty and diseases in Zambia. The foundation works with communities where individuals and institutions participate in valuing, protecting and advancing the worth and the rights of the children. All children deserve an environment of hope, respect and understanding.
In Zambia inflation is rising at double digit rates. This has forced many families to live in poverty, causing the death rate among children and adults to soar.. Major obstacles to child survival in Zambia includes infections, HIV/AIDS, parasite diseases, malnutrition and the risks associated with low birth weight and high fertility.
It is the foundation’s mission to achieve the following goals:
To support and care for the orphans and the special needs children by providing food, medicine, education, shelter, clothing and extra curriculum activities.
To provide the special needs children with equipment and devices that will help them in their daily mobility.
To help low income families with relevant care and support, and assist them-and their children- in learning how to effectively apply health education and nutritional information in their daily lives..
To teach these families how to evaluate changes in the health of their children.
To work hand in hand with various organizations, individuals and communities that help promote children’s rights and raises funds children in need.
To support schools by providing educational materials.
To support schools by providing sports outfits and sports equipment.
